Mission Statement:
To provide and educational resource for students, faculty, and administration to review, reflect, and execute initiatives allowing them to develop personally and professionally.
Principal- Mr. Christopher C. Graham 
Winston-Salem State University
Mr. Christopher C. Graham is a senior physical education major at Winston-Salem State University. He is a passionate advocate for education and a consummate servant leader. He is currently the president of the Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE); and has served 2 terms as President of Real Men Teach, an academic support, leadership, and teacher training program at his beloved institution. Graham is also actively engaged in multiple personal and professional development opportunities. He has taken the initiative to develop his educational practice through conferences, institutes, and seminars around the country, including The Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s Teacher Quality and Retention. Likewise, Graham is a Wachovia Teaching scholar and Summer Undergraduate Research Experience scholar. As an undergraduate he has been engaged in educational research. Graham also studied abroad in France to better understand education from a global perspective and to develop best practices for American public education. His ultimate goal is to become a college president after years of service in K-12 and higher education. Graham strives to exemplify the words of Sydney J. Harris who once posited that “the whole point of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” Graham believes that his purpose and destiny are tied to education. Therefore, he strives to ‘let my work live on long after I am gone.’ It is with that focus that he continues to educate and empower students.                               
Vice Principal- Mr. Darryl Hylton 
Norfolk State University
Mr. Darryl Hylton, Jr. is a first year fellow here at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund- Teacher Quality and Retention Program. He is a rising senior at the great Norfolk State University located in Norfolk, Virginia majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics. Darryl has worked and is still working with various support services that aid the development of young children/youth. Darryl has aspirations to begin his career as a 6th grade mathematics teacher in a Title I school before he pursues his master degree in Administration & Supervision to become a licensed principal. Mr. Hylton is still debating daily on pursuing a second Master’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in juvenile justice with aspirations of spearheading a school for at-risk youth in the communities and the juvenile court system. Darryl’s educational quote that motivates him to invest his time into these different options is “The goal of an educator should be to take an empty mind and create an open one”- Unknown. His passion, ambition, and positive attitude show that he will be successful in whatever he encounters.          
Intructional Coach- Mr. Raymond Beamon 
North Carolina A&T State University
Mr. Raymond Beamon is a graduate of the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a B.S. in History Education. Born and raised in Asheville, NC, Beamon has had the ultimate goal of achieving leadership. During his tenure in college Mr. Beamon was a member of several organizations on campus, including but not limited to Campus Life Mentors, Orientation Student Leaders, a Housing and Resident Life Assistants, and Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honor Society. Raymond has also served on the Student Government Association  Student Senate for three years, and was elected as Vice President of Internal Affairs .  He aspires to transfer the wealth of knowledge and leadership skills to today's youth. He is a current 9th grade World Studies teacher for Hillside High, in Durham, NC.  A true believer of life long learning Raymond favorite quote is from Newtow D. Baker which states that “The man who graduated today and stops learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after.     
 
Gudiance Conselor- Mr. Jonathan Hall 
Savannah State University
Mr. Jonathan Hall is a rising senior at Savannah State University in the coastal city of Savannah, Georgia. He his Political Science major with the anticipated graduation date of May  5, 2012. He has aspirations to become a high school English and History teacher. His post graduation plans include continuing his studies with a Masters degree in Education & Public Policy.  He currently works as an HIV/AIDS Prevention Counselor at a local youth center for high school children. Jonathan is an active member of several organizations within his campus community such as, Student Orientation Leaders, Chief of Staff for the Student Government Association, HIV/AIDS Peer Educator, and Campus Activities Board Project Manger. Jonathan believes that the children are vital to the future of not only our country but also our world; educators should be equipping students with the tools to become successful.  
Secretary-Mr. Charles Yongu 
Cheyney University


Mr. Charles Yongu is a recent Graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in the field of Liberal studies with a concentration in Elementary Education. He is currently working on his Masters degree in education with a specialty in Instructional Technology at Arcadia University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Yongu is a very determined individual looking forward to making a difference in the classroom. 
Teacher- Mr. Jonathan L. Miller 
Prairie-View A&M

Jonathan L. Miller was the name given to me by current Pittsburg Unified School District Board member, George Miller and Dental Assistant, Carrie Miller. Born in Pittsburg, CA I have been exposed to a diverse variety of cultures. Currently, I am a junior at Prairie View A&M University, studying reading, writing, and literature grades 4-8. I am a strong believer in the freedom of choice and understand what it means by Bob Marleys famous quote, “You may gain the world and lose your soul. Freedom is better than silver and gold.” I am happy with my ability to help others and understand that my freedom to choose and make the most efficient decisions will be the key to my success. Blog Editor- Mr. Markiss A. Barnes 
Hailing from Wilson NC, Mr. Markiss A. Barnes is a current senior at Elizabeth City State University, where he is studying Music Education.  He is an ECSU Viking Fellows Scholar and represents his university as member of the 2011-2012 university royal court. Markiss stays active on campus as he is involved in many various organizations.  He currently has served for two years as the president of ECSU’s chapter of Collegiate Music Educators National Conference.  He is a member and section leader of the Marching Vikings Marching Band and various other musical ensembles.  Markiss has a passion for teaching and music and aspires to open a school of the arts one day.  Markiss is a creative, determine, and motivated young man who seeks to inspire those around him.  The HBCU Males Institute is Markiss’s first Thurgood Marshall Program and he looks forward to working more with TMCF in the future.  Mr. Barnes sees music as a gateway for students to evolve and grow into future society leaders.
